Product Spotlight on Bernhard Willhelm
Since the beginning of this year, I have been developing a new feature on our site called Product Spotlight which introduces our users to some cool, practical and, of course, well-designed products that are available. In April we featured some shades by our friends at Mykita that were part of a collaboration between their designers, and the always-interesting Bernhard Willhelm.

I just wanted to point out that I recently included another interesting collaboration between Willhelm and the shoe company Camper (May).

We really love the direction that this German designer is going and they way he has forged some intelligent collaborative partnerships with equally cool companies!

Italian artist Fabio Lattanzi has been focusing on the symbolic interpretation of reality, the rendering
in images of the social and emotive universe of the individual since 1997. In his latest works entitled “Build yourself an idol”, we see the symbolism combined with a smart eye for color and atmosphere.

More from Ferran Adria
First a pizzeria, and now a beer? Is Ferran Adria- the top chef in the world- going mainstream?? While your instinct may be to say yes, rest assured that Senor Adria will not be the next celebuchef to hock a wimpy and poorly executed beer or pizza. In fact, the beer, which happens to be part of a collaboration with Spanish brewers, Estrella Damm, will behave more like a wine. Named “Inedit” Adria expects the beer to be poured and served like a wine, and that it will be possibly to pair with specific foods to enhance the eating experience.
While we have not yet had the chance to test it, friends at the New York Times report, ”
The successful result has a floral aroma that hints of citrus and spice, and a flavor that is mild, fruity and balanced, like an adolescent chardonnay. Its name, Inedit, means “original” in French.
It actually starts as two beers, Mr. Adrià said: a straightforward lager and a German-style weissbier that is seasoned with orange peel, coriander and licorice. Because each ferments at a different rate, the beers are not blended until just before bottling in black 750-milliliter wine bottles. The marriage undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, like Champagne.”

The fixed bike phenomenon is in full swing across the world. Hipsters, bike messengers, and wannabes are all in line to spend their cash on bikes with no brake and little alon gthe lines of comfort. That being said, the bikes are pretty cool and the trailer for the German production Fixed City has been making the rounds on the internet lately. Any Berliners or visitors to the Design Hotels HQ will recognize some of our neighbors around the corner at the bike shop.

Nam- Japanese Graphic Art Collective
Takayuki Nakazawa and Hiroshi Manaka make up the Japanese design collective called Nam. They are producing a diverse collection of images that have kept viewers (me, at least!) on the edge of my seat. If Henri Cartier-Bresson was famous for captureing “the moment,” then I would say that Nam is developing a style of creating the moment for the new age.
